KMI (Korea Medical Institute), formally the Korea Medical Institute Foundation, is a non-profit organization founded in 1985 that helped popularize comprehensive health checkups in Korea. Over nearly four decades, it has focused on the prevention and early detection of disease, building extensive diagnostic data and expertise along the way, and in 2025 earned WHO Health Promoting Hospitals certification. KMI operates eight health screening centers across the country, including Seoul, Suwon, Daegu, Busan, Gwangju, and Jeju, most located in accessible downtown areas. Its centers are equipped with advanced imaging technology such as PET-CT, MRI, and CT, and its checkups are supported by a network of more than 50 partner hospitals, so that if a serious condition is suspected or an abnormality is found, patients can be referred quickly to a general or university hospital for further care. For international visitors, Global KMI provides checkup programs designed specifically for foreign patients, with English-speaking staff and multilingual guidance. Results reports are available in English, Chinese, and Japanese, English receipts are provided, and results can be emailed to patients after they return home. Program options include Global Check-up tiers (Standard, Signature, and Noble) and dedicated programs for overseas Koreans, allowing patients to choose a package suited to their age, needs, and available time in Korea.
